A. Gabriel Esteban Appointed as Seton Hall University’s 20th President

In a break from tradition of appointing only priests to head this New Jersey Catholic school, the Board of Regents of Seton Hall University (SHU) appointed Dr. A. Gabriel Esteban Seton Hall’s President, effective January 10, 2011. Dr. Esteban has served as interim president since Monsignor Robert Sheeran stepped down from the presidency on July 1, 2010.

The first Filipino president of SHU, Dr. Esteban’s phenomenal rise through the ranks (read his CV) started from his earning a B.S. Math degree and an MBA at the University of the Philippines, Diliman, Quezon City, where he initially taught undergraduate courses in marketing at the College of Business Administration from 1983 to 1985.

A product of the Paco Catholic School (grade school 1973, high school 1977), Dr. Esteban was one of the school’s Msgr. Domingo Cirilos Achievement Awardees of 2008.
